Lala Rice

La-Shonda Rice is an author, crochet doll designer and owner of The Christian Crochet Addict based in Queens, New York, USA. She began her crochet experience in 1992 with a small skein of yarn and a pencil and soon fell in love with all types of baby items, from booties to hats, and blankets.

In 2012 she became frustrated and disappointed when searching for a doll for her daughter. She wasn't just after something that could be played with and cherished, she wanted a doll that resembled her daughter. One that had the same hair texture, style and skin tone for a child of colour.

With other important criteria in mind La-Shonda got creative and took her frustration out on her yarn which led her to crochet her first custom made doll.

She now offers a 'One of A Kind Design' service and her self published patterns are available in PDF format through her website and her Etsy shop.
