Sahara Briscoe

Sahara Briscoe is an internationally renowned textile developer and fabricator. As a textile artist she has produced work to commission that has been exhibited internationally at galleries in London, Sweden, the 2010 Shanghai World's Fair, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and as part of the traveling exhibition of The Nueberger Museum of Art, New York.

As an enthusiastic teacher of fibre crafts Sahara has instructed many students at a number of institutions amongst them Harlem Needle Arts and Parsons School of Design (both in New York) where she was a guest lecturer in yarn spinning as adjunct to Knitwear Design.

In October of 2019 Sahara performed a community weaving project as part of 'Art On The Concourse': an exhibition, pop up shop and benefit auction in aid of Concourse House, a transitional family residence in The Bronx, New York. Attendees and residents were taught to weave within minutes to create a harmoniously inclusive 'Banner of Representation' which is now displayed in the lobby with donors, programme directors, staff, the residents and their children all having contributed to its creation. Other examples of her work can be seen on her website Super String Thing Studio.
